Jakarta – Italy has ensured qualification for the last 16 of Euro 2024. Italian national team player Stephan El Shaarawy said he was not afraid to fight anyone. In fact, other teams will be afraid to face Italy.
In the round of 16, Italy will face Switzerland. Both teams have the same status as runner-up of their respective groups. Italy came out as runner-up of Group B while Switzerland was runner-up of Group A.
Reported from detikSportSwiss coach Murat Yakin said he believes his team is capable of competing with Italy. This was triggered by their success in holding the host Germany to a 1-1 draw to advance to the last 16.
But on the other hand, Italy will not be afraid either. El Shaarawy believes that many teams are not happy against Italy. In fact, he emphasized that other teams would not have an easy time facing Italy.
“No team likes playing against Italy, we have a great football history, and it’s never easy to play against us. We also showed it against Croatia, this is a team that doesn’t give up and tries to score goals.
“Even our Spanish opponents tried to play open, and they were better, but the ambition must be like that, we have the ability to do it. We will try to propose offensive and proactive football also with Switzerland, we want to reach the end because winning is our goal,” he continued.
