Mattia Zaccagni reveals that Italy is in a profitable chart in the knockout phase of the 2024 European Cup. On the right chart there are few top teams unlike on the left side.
Switzerland vs Italy in the last 16 of the 2024 European Cup will take place at the Olympiastadion, Berlin on Saturday (29/6) at 23.00 WIB. Gli Azzurri advanced to the last 16 with difficulty.
They secured their place in the knockout stages thanks to a late goal on matchday three of Group B against Croatia. Mattia Zaccagni’s goal earned Italy a 1-1 draw with Croatia.
Italy qualified for the last 16 with runner-up status in Group B after winning four points. They are five points behind Spain at the top of the standings.
However, Italy’s stumble into the knockout phase actually presented an advantage. They are on a lighter chart in the fall phase.
The Azzurri are on the right side of the table with only the Netherlands and England as favourites. The Netherlands and England are similar to Italy in also making the last 16 unconvincingly.
A different thing is on the left chart where the top teams gather. There are Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, and host Germany.
Italy’s hero Zaccagni said the chart clearly favors his team. However, they still need to be wary of dark horse teams like Switzerland and Austria who are on the right chart.
“Of course, if you look at it, you could say it’s quite profitable, but we’ve seen in this European Cup that every team is competitive and the lesser-known teams make it difficult for the big teams, so we have to stay focused and see each game. I really like Austria, but Switzerland are also very strong,” said Zaccagni, quoted from the UEFA website.
