Jafar Bynoe will be a Sparta Rotterdam player again next season. The 20-year-old midfielder ran out of contract with Bologna FC. At Het Kasteel, Bynoe signs for one year with an option for one more year.

In 2011, Bynoe entered Sparta’s youth academy at the age of eight. The defensive midfielder then went through all the youth teams at Sparta up to Jong Sparta. After eight games in the Second Division and his unofficial debut in the practice match against Heracles, Bynoe left for Italy in 2022. The Rotterdammer joined Bologna’s youth academy, where he played 53 games at Bologna U19 over the last 2.5 years. At Sparta, Bynoe will join the A-selection during the first weeks of preparation.

“In recent weeks we have been in contact with Jafar about a return to Sparta. Many people within the club obviously knew Jafar well, so we closely followed his development at Bologna. We think that Jafar has grown further as a player in those 2.5 years. When he left Sparta, he was already close to the A-selection, in the coming weeks he can show that he is fully part of it. Together with Jafar we will do everything we can to make it a great season for both him and the team,” said Technical Director Gerard Nijkamp.
