Jaime Jaquez Jr. Named to USA Men’s Basketball Team Training for Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

The Heat player finished the previous NBA campaign with 75 games and an average of 28.2 minutes and 11.9 points per game

USA Basketball made the inclusion of the Mexican official Jaime Jaquez Jr. to the Men’s Basketball Team USA who will train with the United States Men’s National Basketball Team that will participate in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Through its social networks, the National Governing Body of the sport of basketball in the USA announced that Jaquez Jr. will be one of fifteen athletes who will work in The Vegas, Nevada. On the official USA Basketball site, Grant Hillgeneral director of the United States men’s national basketball team, revealed that it is a great opportunity to train with the Olympic team.

“As a former member of Team USA, I know how important and fun this opportunity is for each of these players. There is a tremendous amount of talent on this selected team with the important task of helping the 2024 U.S. Men’s National Team on its journey to the Olympic Games,” he said.

The coach of the Mexican Basketball Team, Omar Quinteroannounced a few weeks ago that the player of Heat I would attend the camp with the team of the USA. Quintero assured that they supported Jaquez in that decision in order to earn a good place on his team the following season of the NBA and even pointed out that the same player asked not to be considered in order to have more rest.

“Jaime had a season with a lot of minutes and a lot of games, but we have been talking to him and he is committed to the project and now he has received an invitation. We talked about it and it was a great decision to go to Team USA, he will train with the NBA elite and it will serve as an experience for him to arrive next season and above all because his coach Erik Spoelstra is there,” said Quintero.

“We knew it, we supported his decision, we wish him the best of success and we hope to see him in the national jersey,” added the national team member.

In the 2023-24 season of the NBAJaime was fourth in Rookie of the Year voting and ranked fourth in All-Rookie Team voting, with Jaquez joining Wembanyama and Holmgren as the only players to appear on all 99 ballots.
