On home turf in Halle, Jan Lennard Struff easily defeated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Jan-Lennard-Struff could count on good chances in the home game in the round of 16 in Halle/Westphalia against the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, after all, the direct comparison before the match was relatively balanced with three wins in seven encounters.
And so the Warsteiner started solidly from the beginning on his own serve, without allowing a single break chance in the entire first set. In the fifth game, the 34-year-old managed the decisive break and safely carried this lead to win the first set, which he sealed with a service game without losing a point.
The events in the second act were mirror images. The German Davis Cup player was also able to break his opponent’s serve when the score was 2:2 and did not allow a break chance in the second set either. With a forehand volley after a strong serve, Struff secured the 6:4, 6:4 victory after 68 minutes.
In the quarterfinals, the world number 41 will face world number one Jannik Sinner from South Tyrol, who had more trouble than expected against Hungarian Fabian Marozsan and won 6:4, 6:7 (4), 6:3 in 2 hours and 17 minutes.
Berrettini loses to Giron
The Stuttgart finalist Matteo Berrettini had to throw in the towel in the round of 16. The Italian won the first set against the American Marcos Giron, but had to admit defeat to the increasingly strong Giron after 1:45 hours of play with 3:6, 6:4, 6:3.
