Jannik Sinner, before his first round at Wimbledon: “No doubt about my body”

“How do you feel, two days before your first Grand Slam as world number one?
Everything is fine. I’m super happy to be back at Wimbledon, and very happy with how I played last week (winning the ATP 500 in Halle).

Is it this title in Germany, or rather your current world rank, which has the most influence on the confidence with which you will approach this Wimbledon?
On grass, when you are confident, it helps a lot of course. I had reached the semi-finals last year (lost to Novak Djokovic) so I already had in mind that I could play good tennis on this surface. The victory in Halle, even if the playing conditions are a little different from those of Wimbledon, yes, it feels good. On the other hand, the ranking, the seedings, all that doesn’t really make sense. I’m especially looking forward to competing.

We remember that you arrived at Roland-Garros with a hip problem. You still reached the semi-finals, beaten in five sets by Alcaraz. Were you able to prepare as you wanted for Wimbledon?
Yes. After Roland Garros, I took a few days off, then I simply returned to work. Nothing secret. And I have no doubt here about my body; I arrived at Wimbledon without any worries about my physical form, which was not the case in Paris. »
