On the 26th, one month before the opening of the Paris Olympics on July 26th, the Japanese women’s judo team opened their training camp currently being held at the Ajinomoto National Training Center in Kita-ku, Tokyo to the press.

Abe Uta (Park 24), who competes in the 52kg class, said, “It feels like it’s already been a month. It feels like it was 60 days ago, so it feels like it went by so quickly. I’ll use this month to build up so that I can finish with a smile on my face.”

In practice, he worked energetically with his partner, Kazuki Mori, on ground techniques, randori, and uchikomi, demonstrating his good condition. “I’m progressing quite well. I think I’m gradually coming together in terms of technique, my mind, and my body,” he said with a sense of reality.

She will appear together with her brother Hifumi, who competes in the men’s 66 kg class, on July 28, two days after the opening ceremony. When asked about her dream after successfully achieving consecutive Olympic victories, Abe said, “For now, I’ll forget about the sport and become a normal girl. I want to get my nails done, and do things like that, and make them really flashy.” Although she intends to continue competing after Paris, she also seems to be dreaming of a long vacation.
