Joel Cornelli Inaugurated as New Coach of Arema FC, Targeted to Lead Team to Success in Liga 1 2024-2025

KOMPAS.com – Joel Cornelli has just been inaugurated as the new coach Arema FC. He is targeted to be able to bring Singo Edan to compete at the top of the final standings Liga 1 2024-2025.

As is known, Arema FC’s performance throughout Liga 1 last season could be said to be less than satisfactory.

Singo Edan almost got relegated to Liga 2 because they were only able to finish in 15th position at the end of the 2023-2024 Liga 1 Regular Series round.

Joel Cornelli is definitely looking forward to challenges that will not be easy in carrying out his duties as Arema FC coach.

Because, in the last few seasons, Arema FC has often changed coaches in the middle of the season.

Like last season, the Arema FC head coach’s baton changed hands three times, from the duo of Joko Susilo and I Putu Gede Swi Santoso to Fernando Valente, then ending with Widodo Cahyono Putro.

Seeing this phenomenon, Joel Cornelli was challenged to prove his quality and capability as an experienced coach.

“Change of coaches is a normal thing in football. I hope to have support when the pressure comes in both bad and good moments. “Because pressure is normal in football,” said Joel Cornelli.

“We have to work professionally and work hard. “We are trying to make Arema a big team,” he said again.

He feels there is nothing to worry about regarding pressure from supporters or team management.

Armed with his experience coaching several clubs in Brazil and in various other places, including Asia, Joel Cornelli is confident that he can adapt well with Arema FC.

“I have managed big and small teams in Brazil and several countries. I’m ready to bring Arema back to the top, I want to start this like a family.”

“Arema must be with us and all the family, in order to be successful,” said the former Club Atletico Rondoniense coach.
