Jorge Fossati came out to show his face after the Peruvian team’s first game in the Copa America 2024, in which he debuted against Chile and tied without goals (0-0), despite the fact that the ‘Roja’ was considered by many as the favorite in the previous round. Given this, the Bicolor coach talked about what happened at the AT & T Stadium and the feelings left by his team.

The Uruguayan strategist assured that the difficulty for Peru was evident when his team controlled the ’round’, and that anxiety played against them even though during the preparation they anticipated what would happen in the duel.

“It seems to me that in possession of the ball, there was our deficit. In general, some things that we had talked about and worked on, did not go as we wanted. I saw a team with a very good attitude, but anxious. With little confidence when it came to to play and have it, to seek collective arrivals,” he said at a press conference.

Of course, Jorge Fossati highlighted that the Peruvian team was able to stop the movement of the team led by Ricardo Gareca, especially in the second half, in which more chances were generated in favor of the ‘Blanquirroja’.

“This improves substantially in the second half. Chile could not have it with the same comfort as the first half. We recovered more than half the field upwards. We arrived on both sides, with collective play… In short, the tie is fair, as far as because a time belonged to each one,” he said.
