Josh Richardson to Exercise Player Option with Miami Heat for 2024-25 Season, per Shams Charania

Josh Richardson will continue for another year under Erik Spoelstra. As reported by Shams Charania of The Athleticthe shooting guard will have his player option worth $3 million to continue with the Miami Heat for the 2024-25 NBA season.

Although it is a secondary piece, it is undoubtedly welcome news for the Florida organization, since last year he was key in the team’s rotation until he suffered a shoulder injury in February. In any case, it is expected that he will be fully recovered to do the next preseason and reach the regular season in perfect condition.

Regarding his performance on a statistical level, Richardson is averaging 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 25.7 minutes per night. Before being injured he played 43 games, six of them as a starter.

Beyond this news, Miami is very attentive to other operations. After deciding that they will not consider Jimmy Butler’s contract extension until 2025, they now have to move to shape a squad that can fight for everything in the Eastern Conference. They don’t have it easy.
