Juan Soto hits two home runs against the Giants, Yankees sweep the series

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Juan Soto hit two home runs, including the go-ahead four-run ninth inning off star closer Camilo Doval, and the New York Yankees rallied Sunday to win 7 -5 to the San Francisco Giants.

Giants starter Blake Snell, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, exited in the fifth inning with an apparent groin injury and will undergo an MRI.

Aaron Judge added two singles to extend his on-base reach to 29 games, as the American League East-leading Yankees won their fifth straight game and completed a 7-2 trip to California’s three cities with a three-game sweep at Oracle Park.

Soto homered off Snell in the first inning, then reached safety with a bunt and then scored in the fifth inning.

Michael Tonkin (2-3) pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Clay Holmes worked a perfect ninth for his 17th save.

For the Yankees, Dominican Soto went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Mexican Alex Verdugo is 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Venezuelan Gleyber Torres 4-1.

For the Giants, Puerto Rican Heliot Ramos was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and one run scored. Cuban Jorge Soler was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Venezuelan Luis Matos 1-for-4 with one scored.
