According to information from the Austrian Tennis Association (ÖTV) on Monday, Julia Grabher from Vorarlberg is entitled to move up into the Olympic field for Paris following an invitation from the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The 27-year-old is only ranked 309th in the world, but her protected ranking of 75 is valid. She has this because of a break due to a wrist injury, but after a comeback Grabher recently took another longer break.
This week she is making another comeback as the top seed at a small ITF tournament in Klosters, Switzerland, but according to the ÖTV she only completed cautious training sessions with soft balls last week.
Grabher is proposed for nomination by the ÖTV, but the decision on whether to send him will be made by the Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC).
