Update from June 19, 7.35 a.m.: Julian Nagelsmann confirmed in an interview with ARD the day before the second European Championship group match against Hungary: “If nothing happens overnight, we will not have any changes.” He added: “We have distributed the roles, but also made it clear that the performance has to be right. And it was right.”
At the press conference before the game, the national coach announced that there were no injured players. Despite a hard foul in the opening game, captain İlkay Gündoğan, who continued playing unscathed, will lead the DFB team on Wednesday.

Update from June 18, 11.40 am: Julian Nagelsmann’s line-up decision for the second European Championship match against Hungary has apparently been made! According to information from Bild There will be no changes in the DFB starting eleven compared to the 5-1 win against Scotland. Nagelsmann will therefore continue to rely on his regular eleven, which he has fielded since the March international matches.
The reasons for not making any changes are obvious: Firstly, the starting eleven put in a strong performance against Scotland and thus once again earned the national coach’s trust. Secondly, Nagelsmann had already assigned clear roles before the tournament began, which now also apply to the second European Championship game.

One player Julian Nagelsmann could consider for the starting lineup against Hungary is Leroy Sané. The winger is an important part of the team, but had health problems before the tournament, which initially only resulted in him being a substitute. In the game against Scotland, he came on as a substitute for Florian Wirtz in the 63rd minute.
However, it is unlikely that Sané will play from the start against Hungary, as the DFB team’s offense performed well overall. In addition to Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, who both scored a goal, the DFB captain İlkay Gündogan, who has recently been heavily criticized, also put in a strong performance against the Scots. Just five minutes after coming on as a substitute, striker Niclas Füllkrug scored. The BVB attacker made it 4-0 and thus got on the scoresheet. Nevertheless, he will probably sit on the bench again, as Nagelsmann pointed to “many good substitutions” from Füllkrug. Emre Can, who came on for Toni Kroos, scored the 5-1 and thus put the final point in the Allianz Arena in Munich.
The first player Nagelsmann brought on, however, was Pascal Groß. He came on at half-time for the yellow-carded Robert Andrich. The midfielder integrated seamlessly and showed a strong performance in central midfield. Due to his playing skills, the 33-year-old could also be a candidate for the starting eleven against Hungary.
