“I believe that Julian is a coach who has come at exactly the right time. As a young guy, he has very good access to this generation. He knows how they tick. But he has also found a clear line and clear ideas about how he wants to approach the tournament,” said Klinsmann (59) in an interview with SID before the start of the tournament on Friday against Scotland.
Klinsmann sees the German national team as “absolutely powerful”. “They can compete for the title. We have the players to cause a sensation,” emphasised the former world-class striker.
“They all play for top clubs in Europe. For me, the DFB team is just as much a favourite as England, Spain, Italy, Portugal and France,” he added. “Something can be done. After difficult times, the moment has come.”
Nagelsmann’s team is “full of talent,” Klinsmann continued: “Julian has put together a beautiful puzzle in the last few months. If I look at Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz alone, they are absolutely exceptional talents. So why shouldn’t we start the tournament positively?”
