Juventus fired coach Massimiliano Allegri “for just cause”, two weeks after sacking him

Juventus has fired coach Massimiliano Allegri “for just cause”, two weeks after sacking him. The news was not released by Juventus but is taken for granted by all the main newspapers.

The relationship between Juventus and Allegri had deteriorated a lot in recent months, after two already very negative seasons. The club had decided to sack Allegri after the victory against Atalanta in the Italian Cup final, during which Allegri had taken it out in a very disorderly manner with the referees, with some Juventus managers and with the director of the Turin sports newspaper Tuttosport, Guido Vaciago. A few hours after the victory, Juventus told Allegri they had sacked him – a formula whereby a coach remains formally under contract with a club, but at the same time no longer takes care of the team – citing behavior “not compatible with the values of Juventus”. .

The Gazzetta dello Sport writes that in recent days Juventus and Allegri had exchanged some reconstructions on what happened during and after Juventus-Atalanta: at the end of this exchange the company would have decided in any case to dismiss Allegri with the formula of “just cause”, which exempts her from continue to pay Allegri’s salary until the end of the contract. Before his dismissal, Allegri had a contract until the summer of 2025 and was by far the highest paid manager in Serie A.

Il Corriere della Sera says Allegri will appeal against the dismissal.
