On Saturday, Karlovy Vary commemorated fifteen years since the historic win of the title. The golden boys of that time gathered in an almost complete composition in the KV Arena, where in an exhibition match they defeated the star selection of HWB Hockey 8:7 after raids.
On one side, then goalkeeper Lukáš Mensator, defense leader Josef Řezníček or captain Václav Skuhravý, on the other, fighters such as Patrik Eliáš, Václav Varaďa, David Výborný, Jiří Tlustý, Milan Hnilička or Jakub Koreis.
There was already a lot of interest in the autograph session that preceded the commemorative duel. The exhibition itself was watched by a great 2,881 fans who saw fourteen goals in regular time and the triumph of the Karlovy Vary golden boys in the decisive raids.

“For three years I practically did not stand on skates. The legs were fine, the hands were worse. But I think we did it with honor. It was great. I was mainly looking forward to the boys, I haven’t seen most of them in fifteen years,” admits the former striker.

He brought the cup to a crowd of players in 2009, but now he enjoyed it even more. “Before that, Pepa Řezníček was supposed to finish, so I wanted him to pick it up first. Now it was such that we all picked him up,” smiles the Karlovy Vary legend.
