KRC Genk in Pursuit of New Striker: Transfer Market Update

KRC Genk is moving up a gear on the transfer market. The Limburgers are clearly urgently looking for a new striker.

With Tolu Arokodare and Andi Zeqiri, KRC Genk has two strikers, but offensive reinforcement is clearly a must if you look at the rumors on the transfer market.

Earlier this week it was already heard that KRC Genk is showing interest in the South Korean Hyeon-gyu Oh of Celtic as a new striker.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws you can now add a name. Roberto Fernandez from Malaga would also be very clearly in the picture in the Cegeka Arena.

The Spaniard, barely 21 years old, played 36 times in the Spanish third division this season and scored 18 goals.

He trained at Sevilla and also played for Barcelona’s B team. He is still under contract in Malaga until 2025. A transfer fee will therefore have to be paid.

KRC Genk brought in the trainer from STVV with Thorsten Fink to succeed Wouter Vrancken. Jarne Steuckers already followed his coach to Genk and you may also add Matte Smets to that list, although Anderlecht is also lurking.

Venezuelan back Adrian Palacios from Deportivo Cali is also said to be on his way to Genk, according to the newspaper.
