Kyrie Irving Returns to Boston Amid Boos as Mavericks Fall in NBA Finals Opener

Kyrie Irving, one of the leaders of the Dallas Mavericks, said this Thursday that he expected there to be “more noise” at the TD Garden in Boston, to which he returned amidst boos as a rival to play the first game of the NBA Finals, which ended with defeat of the Texans by 107-89.

“It’s basketball in the end. I’m used to being in these environments. At the beginning of my career I had a different relationship with Boston, now I’m here as a veteran,” Irving said at the TD Garden postgame press conference.

“I thought there was going to be more noise, but I expect the same in the second game. The energy has to be focused on the game,” he added. Irving did not exceed twelve points, with six of 19 in field goals and zero of five in triples.

“It’s the best time of the year to play. The environment is going to be what it is, but I want to make sure I maintain trust,” she stated.

The Celtics destroyed the Mavericks in the first game of the Finals driven by the extraordinary return of the Latvian Kristaps Porzingis, who had 20 points, six rebounds and three blocks coming off the bench.

Jaylen Brown scored 22 points and Jayson Tatum contributed 16, 11 rebounds and 5 assists, although he also lost 6 balls.

Doncic had 30 points and 10 rebounds, but only had one assist, an unusual figure for the Slovenian star.
