La Garenne Secondary School Excels at Lot Olympic Games

From Monday 17 June to Wednesday 19 June, 18 students from La Garenne secondary school registered with the National Union of School Sports (UNSS), rewarded for their attendance, took part in the Lot Olympic Games. 450 secondary school students gathered over 3 days at the Cahors sports facilities to compete in various sporting events where perfect diversity was respected in each competition. All the delegations were housed at Mas de Saboth, an extraordinary holiday village located in the town of Vers. The students from La Garenne secondary school dominated the podiums during these Olympic Games where multi-activity was in the spotlight. The Benjamin/es team (6th/5th grade) climbed onto the podium twice, placing 2nd in athletics and 2nd in laser run. They finished 8th in football, 11th in basketball and 14th in badminton. Overall, they took 4th place out of the 24 secondary schools present. The junior team (4th/3rd) will be on the podium 3 times: 1st in rugby, 1st in athletics and 3rd in handball. They finished 4th in laser run/swimming and 11th in badminton. These excellent results allow both teams to secure a very nice second place in the general ranking. The delegation from La Garenne college in Gramat, led for two years by principal Anne Vergely, shone during these Lot Olympic Games. The PE teachers thank the Lot Department and the Lot Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee for their essential support in the implementation of these 3 magical days, without forgetting Lionel Veysseyre, UNSS departmental director, who piloted this organization with a master’s hand.
