According to ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers have chosen a new preferred candidate for the vacant coaching position.

This is said to be the coach of the UConn Huskies college team – Dan Hurley. In his six seasons, the 51-year-old has an impressive record of 141-58. He has also won the NCAA title with UConn in each of the last two years.

“FOX News” reports that the coach informed his players on Thursday that he was in negotiations with the NBA franchise from California.

The first talks are now scheduled to take place on site in Los Angeles on Friday.

The Lakers are determined to lure the son of Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley Sr. to their team. General Manager Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss will meet with the UConn coach on Friday and try to convince him.

Apparently, Hurley was on the Lakers’ radar from the start.

They are ready to offer him a lucrative, long-term contract. Lakers superstar LeBron James also seems to be taken with Hurley. In April, he paid homage to the Huskies coach in an “X” post.

With James turning 40 in December, the Lakers are increasingly looking to Anthony Davis for the future. Davis is also said to be involved in the coaching search. James’ co-star is expected to make sure he is happy with the new coach’s plans.

Does this mean a reversal of Redick’s position?
