LeBron James Makes History with 20th All-NBA Selection

LeBron James has been selected for the All-NBA team of the best basketball league in the world for the 20th time in 21 seasons. The 39-year-old superstar from the Los Angeles Lakers is the oldest professional to receive this honor. In a vote among 99 journalists, James was selected for the All-NBA Third Team this time. 20 selections among the best 15 players in the league are a record. James is followed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan, who were each selected 15 times.

In contrast to the previous season, this time the teams could be selected regardless of position. The Serbian Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets), the Slovenian Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks) and the Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder) were chosen by a large margin as the top five of the past regular season. Jokic had already been named the most valuable player of the season. The team was completed by the Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics pro Jayson Tatum, who is the only American in the top five.

What will happen next for James is unclear. The best point scorer in NBA history announced after the Lakers’ early playoff exit against Denver that he wants to rest first before starting preparations for the Olympics with the US team in the summer.
