LeBron James Offered $160 Million Contract Extension by Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James could become $160 million richer.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPNthe Los Angeles Lakers reportedly intend to offer the 39-year-old star player a new three-year contract worth $160 million.

James still has one year left on his current contract, which would pay him $51.4 million, but many analysts expect him to use the option on his pact to become a free agent and thus have the opportunity to sign a new agreement.

If this offer were to materialize and be accepted, this means that James would be under contract with the Lakers until he turns 42. We do not know if this contract would be the last of his career, but it would become a real possibility depending on how the next few years unfold.

Statistically speaking, James did not turn 38 last season. He averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists with the Lakers with whom he has been playing since the 2018-2019 season.

The Lakers have just hired JJ Redick as head coach following their elimination in the first round of the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets.
