The most successful manager in the history of the Champions League won his fifth big-eared cup on Saturday at Wembley – and even seven if we add those won in 1989 and 1990 when he was still a player. As coach, Carletto triumphed twice with Milan (2003, 2007) and three times with Real Madrid (2014, 2022, 2024). The Italian has only lost one final, in 2005. Ancelotti can look down on the competition since the best in the rest of the world – Zinedine Zidane, Bob Paisley and Pep Guardiola – have all stopped at three Champions Leagues.
