After the surprising 3:13 home defeat the previous evening, the Guggenberger Legionnaires successfully took revenge on Saturday afternoon with a 12:3 win against the Mainz Athletics.
Regensburg’s offensive department in particular tried to make up for the poor performance and started with a 2-0 lead in the opening inning. With six more runs in the fourth section, the home team set the course for victory. After six innings, they were even ahead 12-1, but the brave guests from the Rhine fought back against an early end to the game. With two runs in the seventh inning, they ensured the final score.
While A’s starting pitcher Kevin Schnorbach was badly hit by the Legionnaires’ offense, allowing eight runs and eight hits in 3.1 innings, Kieran Lovegrove had a quiet afternoon on the other side. In five innings, the US boy with a South African passport only allowed two hits and three walks with six strikeouts.
