The two-year period has officially ended Olympic judo qualification for the Paris 2024 Games, the IJF has confirmed the list of countries that will be able to take part in the Team Event. After debuting in the last edition of Tokyo, the mixed team event will also be held again in France, which will effectively close the judo program at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Champ de Mars.
There will be 19 teams participating in the Paris Olympic Team Event, including Italy. The Italian selection will try to improve the result of Tokyo, when they were eliminated in the first round by Israel in the play-off match, but the real objective could be to compete for the third step of the podium behind the big favorites Japan and France.

In addition to the two superpowers just mentioned, the other two seeds in the draw will be Georgia (number 3) and Germany (number 4). Brazil, Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Austria, Hungary, Israel, Serbia, Canada, Turkey, Spain and the IOC Refugee Team also qualified. The draw will prove fundamental for the Azzurri’s medal ambitions, because there is the possibility of a possible meeting with Japan or France before the quarter-finals.
We remind you that, given how the format of this event is structured, Italy will presumably field the following athletes: Odette Giuffrida or Veronica Toniolo in -57 kg, Kim Polling in -70 kg, Alice Bellandi or Asya Tavano in +70 kg, Manuel Lombardo in -73 kg, Christian Parlari in -90 kg and Gennaro Pirelli in +90 kg.
