KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian national team will play two final matches in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asia Group F zone against Iraq and the Philippines.

The two matches will be played at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

The Garuda squad will first host Iraq on Thursday (6/6/2024). After that, Shin Tae-yong’s troops will face the Philippines on Tuesday (11/6/2024).

Indonesia only needs one win to advance to the third round which brings Garuda closer to the door to the 2026 World Cup which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

These calculations are based on Garuda’s current position in second place in the standings with seven points, four points ahead of Vietnam which is in third place.

There are 24 players called by Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong, including Calvin Verdonk.

Madura United star Malik Risaldi became a debutant in the Garuda squad. Meanwhile for the rest, names such as Jordi Amat, Rizky Ridho, Thom Haye, Marselino Ferdinan, and Rafael Struick are still mainstays.

From the two previous matches against Iraq and the Philippines, Indonesia only picked up one point after losing 1-5 to Iraq in Basra and drawing 1-1 against the Philippines in Manila.
