During the final tournament of the European football championship in Riga, fans can watch live broadcasts of all games in the premises of “Lidl Arena”, but every day before the evening game there will be a “Euro 2024” studio about and around football, led by Anatolijs Kreipāns.
The main sport in Liena Dambiņa’s family is tennis, but any type of sports activity is an important element for strengthening mental health: “A healthy, active way of life is very good medicine. We know that sports help mental health a lot. We also have sports coaches at the Adolescent Resource Center , who work in a team with psychologists and psychiatrists, taking care of the child’s well-being. For many, sports are associated only with high-achieving sports, but an active lifestyle is the basis of health. It is important for the child to have a place to practice sports and to have different emotions as well as life experiences. It is also very important for us. Children are always moving. Yes, they also sit down and play some video game, but the proportion has always been in favor of what they do outside.”
Dambiņa, together with her husband, actively organizes camps for children from Ukraine, saying: “It is the duty of all of us, understanding what Ukrainian children go through and how difficult it is for them, to support as much as we can. I try to do this through these camps, in which we physical movements are also included. We exercise with the children and also use the pool. We don’t need a pool at the moment, we can go swimming in the sea or the lake.”
