Long forced break for team player Naschenweng

Austria’s women’s national football team and FC Bayern Munich will have to do without the services of Melissa Naschenweng for a long time. The 50-time team player has to undergo cruciate ligament surgery on her left knee and will be out for several months.

Naschenweng had already suffered a knee sprain in the DFB Cup semi-final and also missed the last game of the season in Hoffenheim due to knee problems.

“The fact that the fears of a necessary knee operation have now come true is a heavy blow, first and foremost for Katharina herself, but of course also for us. We hope that the operation and the healing process will go well and that we can welcome her back into the national team as soon as possible,” said ÖFB team manager Irene Fuhrmann, regretting this development during the Iceland training camp.
