Lorenzo Bucarelli Set to Leave Cantù: A Look at His Contract Escape

Lorenzo Bucarelli has made up his mind and will take advantage of the escape provided for in his contract. After three seasons in Cantù – all of which spent in A2 with the Brianza club -, the Tuscan winger has decided to change teams. Just like Stefan Nikolic did a few days ago, who, despite having an active contract, accepted the offer from Vanoli in Serie A.

The Bucarelli story, obviously, needs to be reconstructed a bit. Because there has been a push and pull with the company in recent days. The player, in fact, would not have liked the role proposed to him. An important role, but not as prominent as he would have asked for. Cantù’s choice to focus on an American guard did not find agreement with Bucarelli, because his idea was to remain at the center of the technical project, with even more minutes and leadership on the pitch. What did Cantù do? The club, despite offering the player a multi-year contract and, so it seems, with a considerable increase in salary, did not want to change its plans and therefore – faced with the player’s refusal – decided to leave the player free to settle elsewhere .

A couple of weeks ago, GM Sandro Santoro had already explored alternative paths. If the relationship with Bucarelli had been interrupted, there would have been an immediate alternative. And all paths lead to Matteo Piccoli, last season in Serie A at Vanoli Cremona. There has been a clear acceleration and in the next few hours there will be the official announcement, after having beaten the competition of Brindisi, Fortitudo and Udine.
