Lotte Kopecky Dominates Belgian Cycling with Double Title Win: A Perfect Week with a Small Downside

The Belgian title in the time trial on Thursday, the Belgian title on the road on Sunday: Lotte Kopecky (28) has had a perfect week. Although there appeared to be a small downside to her victory on Sunday evening.

Just like in the time trial, Lotte Kopecky was no match in the road race. The differences with numbers two and three actually say it all: almost three and a half minutes after Kopecky, Sanne Cant and Justine Ghekiere crossed the line. Satisfaction was everywhere for the world champion, although there appeared to be a small downside to her fourth Belgian road title: Kopecky lost her Garmin (cycling computer) after the finish. “Beautiful day, but after the race/podium I lost my Garmin. If anyone finds an Edge Solar (the model, ed.): that’s mine,” it reads on Kopecky’s Instagram, accompanied by the meaningful song Good Life by OneRepublic.

After the match, Kopecky still had enough in the tank to ride his bike home, a journey of about sixty kilometers. On Sunday she almost reached two hundred kilometers. Not bad.
