Macron still plays intermediary on L1 TV rights

On June 3, as is tradition, Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Republic, came to lunch at Clairefontaine with the French team leaving for the Euro (June 14-July 14). And he didn’t leave empty-handed. But it was not a Kylian Mbappé jersey, with whom he joked about the imminent announcement of his signing for Real Madrid, that he took with him. According to our information, he was given by Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF, a working document from the LFP on television rights for Ligue 1 for the next five seasons. And more precisely on plan B, activated urgently by the League after the impossibility of implementing plan A, a 100% L1 channel made by beIN Sports and distributed exclusively by the Canal+ group. This alternative option (plan B) is still an antenna totally dedicated to L1, but distributed in a non-exclusive manner by all operators, ISPs (Internet service providers), i.e. Free, Bouygues, SFR, Orange… just as possibly by DAZN, which seeks to grow on the French market or Amazon Prime Video, interested in maintaining L1 in its offering if it is not too expensive.
