Magnificent Weekend for Corsican Judokas: Bill Zouani Shines in Championships

A weekend which began magnificently on Saturday with the title, during the second division championship, of Bill Zouani in +100kg. The judoka of Kodokan Corse Curtinese thereby offering the first national men’s medal at this level (see elsewhere) for his club. On the other hand, the two other Corsican judokas of the day, Cedric Le Hen in -81kg, also from Kodokan Corse Curtinese and Osama Akaouch a -73kg you Dojo Porto-Vecchiai did not rank.

On Sunday, there were five Corsicans to defend the colors of the island in the 3D championship: Saveria Lucchesi of JC Bastiais, Maxime Guerriero of JC Trava the winds and three from Kodokan Corse Curtinese. No medalist or ranked during this day, but an interesting performance from Lisandro Cristofari in -60kg, from the same club as Bill Zouani. The youngest member since he is only a third year cadet! At just sixteen years old, the Kodokan Corse Curtinese licensee finished first in his group, beating a fighter from the Ile-de-France region and another from the region. Burgundy-Franche-Comté. But unfortunately, his journey ended at the start of the elimination table. Indeed, this fighter, medalist several times in national and international cadet tournaments this season, was beaten by a judoka from Hautcourt, in the Grand Est. Nicolas Poggitechnical director of the Curtinese club, gave a mixed assessment of the day: Matteo Vanni et Hugo Duniaud-Prieur in -73kg and -81kg do not come out of the hens. The first lacked concentration on his fights while the second, who took a long break, lacked training and feeling. The positive point is for Lisandru. He is going to move up to junior and this championship was useful to him, because he was able to take juniors and seniors and thus start preparing for next season!”
