During the targeted services set up aimed at combating the phenomenon of illegal landfills, the Agents of the Vittoria Public Safety Commissioner identified land used as an illegal landfill in the territory of the Ipparino municipality, investigating the owner in a state of freedom as required by the art. 256 of Legislative Decree 152/06 (Consolidated Environmental Law).
The owner of the land, a 42-year-old man, was in fact caught by the agents in the act of committing a crime while he was storing and depositing special waste, including dangerous ones.
Furthermore, the man had already set fire to the waste, regardless of public safety and the fact that everything was happening near a residential area.
On site, the police operators, given the extent of the fire, requested the intervention of the Fire Brigade, while to restore the area they informed the Municipal Police of Vittoria.
