Over the last few months, the Ducati Lenovo Team has been in the spotlight because they were confused about choosing a tandem for Pecco Bagnaia. They also have three candidates, namely Jorge Martin, Marquez, and their own racer, Enea Bastianini.

In a press conference in Assen, Netherlands, Thursday (27/6/2024), Marquez indicated that Ducati made a sudden decision, considering the uncertain situation that still occurred throughout the Mugello Series weekend, Italy. On Sunday night after the race, Ducati finally chose Marquez.
“What happened around my team didn’t change. We had the same information from Le Mans to Montmelo and to Mugello. At that time Ducati was still thinking about the decision, and on Wednesday at Mugello, they were still thinking, so I was comfortable,” he said.
Marquez also stated that he only has two options for 2025. The first option is to defend the Ducati Lenovo Team. However, if he is not selected, he originally wanted to stay at Gresini Racing, as long as Ducati gave him the latest factory spec motorbike.

“I’m always honest about what I want. I wanted the newest motorbike at Gresini or to move to the factory team. They chose me for the factory team,” said the eight-time world champion.
Realizing that Ducati’s decision to choose him has drawn pros and cons, Marquez warned that all riders, including himself, definitely want a place on the factory team.
“The target of a racer is to defend the factory team. Wearing the red racing suit next year will be an honor, and I will try to defend this color with maximum effort,” he concluded.
