“Given the absence of Didier Kaisserian, title holder, who was injured during the regional championships and not drafted by his league, I became the favorite, explained the winner. There remained two very dangerous players, my brother and Serge Gresy, the other two ranked 15. I beat Serge in the semi-finals and my brother, who is a great customer, had the good idea to lose against Marc Selig! He is a player who has progressed well but I knew that I was starting as a clear favorite. I’m over the moon, already because I find the trophy really pretty (laughs). And the president of the FFT had the excellent idea of offering two places to the winner to see tennis at the Olympic Games.”
A new chapter to come in this dream season: in the space of a few months, Marc Renoult has been crowned at the Worlds, the European Championships and the “France”. “For my first season in 70 years, it’s difficult to do better. I knew I had to be good this year but this year, it exceeds all my expectations.”
