Mbappé and Griezmann, out of France’s Olympic prelist

MADRID, 3 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The forwards Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann will not be part of the French football team that will compete in the Paris Olympic Games that start on July 26, as they are not part of the pre-list of 25 players announced this Monday by Thierry Henry, in which players like Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaire-Emery, both from PSG, or the veteran Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette are present.

Thus, Kylian Mbappé, who has not yet announced which club he will play for next season, will not be at the Paris 2024 Olympic event, despite the fact that he himself has commented on several occasions that he would like to do so due to his status as Parisian. A situation similar to that of Atlético de Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who has also confessed on more than one occasion his desire to be at this summer’s event.

The French Olympic coach, Thierry Henry, announced an initial list of 25 players, from which he will have to make three discards, which includes the names of top-level players such as center back Leny Yoro (Lille), midfielder Zaire -Emery, or the forwards Bradley Barcola and Alexander Lacazette.

A list in which the former forward acknowledged having received “many rejections.” “There have been no negotiations. You go, you ask, they say no and you leave,” said ‘Titi’ about the absence of names like Kylian Mbappé.

The host team, included in Group A of the Olympic soccer tournament along with the United States, Guinea and New Zealand, will debut on July 24 against the American team, to later face Guinea on the 27th, and close the group stage the 30th against the New Zealanders.
