Mbappé can call this Brabant company for his broken nose

Frenchman Kylian Mbappé broke his nose in the match against Austria on Monday evening. The star player, who will probably miss next Friday’s match against the Netherlands, will have to play in a mask for the rest of the tournament. They know all about this at the Rost company in Waalwijk, because they have already helped several top athletes with such a mask.

It looks like the character Zorro, but such a mask should help Kylian Mbappé to take action this European Championship. At Rost in Waalwijk they make these types of masks so that they can still play with a broken nose. They agree that the French superstar can still take action.

“This does not mean the end of the European Championship,” says Ron Schouten of the Waalwijk company. “Mbappé can still play with a mask. We often help athletes in this way.” In the past, Schouten helped Wout Weghorst, among others, the striker scored the winning goal for the Netherlands against Scotland last Sunday, Jasper Cillessen and hockey player Frederique Matla.

Matla broke her nose last year in the run-up to the European Championships, but was given a measured mask by Schouten. She then indicated that she only missed one training and was then able to play the tournament with a mask on. “You have to accept that the mask is on your head.”

“Such a mask only weighs 17 grams.”

Schouten explains that each mask is precisely tailor-made. “A plaster model is made of your head. Every imperfection is reflected in it. Then we press the plaster model into carbon. The mask then only fits the athlete in question. You barely feel that you are wearing such a mask because it only weighs 17 grams.”

Schouten has not yet been called by Mbappé. “Not even by the French Football Federation, so I think they already have a different plan. We usually get a call within a few hours.”

It is not yet clear what kind of mask the Frenchman will wear. It does appear that the French are choosing to give Mbappé a little rest. The French newspaper L’équipe reported on Tuesday evening that the attacker will not participate against the Netherlands.
