Even the eighth day did not offer a thrilling football battle between two titanic teams. The Netherlands drew 0-0 with France and both opponents have four points each. This complicated the situation for the Poles, who lost to the Austrians 1:3 and are without a point. The chance for direct promotion from the group has thus already escaped them. The Slovaks also looked for certainty of progress, but the Ukrainians turned a well-played match to 2:1, and in the group E table, both teams were level on points.
