Messi Makes History in Argentina’s Copa América Victory Over Canada

Messi participated in Argentina’s 2-0 victory over Canada in the opening game of the Copa América, which is being held in the United States. The game registered another historic milestone in “ET’s” career.

This is because the star isolated himself as the athlete who played the most games in the competition. In fact, there are 35 in total in seven editions, leaving behind the Chilean Sergio Livingstone, who has 34 games.

– I’m not one to aim for these record things. Simply grateful and enjoying being at the Copa América once again, in an official competition with the national team – said the number 10 to the Argentine newspaper “Olé”.

The star was upset with the pitch at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. In addition to being an American football stadium, which can accommodate 100,000 people, the competition is taking place with smaller fields as the dimensions of the NFL are different than those for soccer games.

The number 10 and team captain agreed with goalkeeper Dibu Martinez who stated that the organizers mixed natural grass into the synthetic carpet which caused a “trampoline” in every bounce of the ball.

– I felt good physically. It was heavy, the field didn’t help much either, but the team suffered significant physical wear and tear. Now we have a couple of days to rest and prepare for the game against Chile, which will be very complicated too – commented Messi.

With the victory, Argentina leads group A with three points. This Friday, Peru and Chile play at 9pm (Brasília time) in Dallas. The second round takes place next Tuesday, with Argentina facing Chile in New Jersey and Canada playing Peru in Kansas City.
