Mexican Baseball League Explores Collaboration with Korean Baseball Organization

Excellent news for Mexican baseball! This Monday it was announced that a delegation of directors from the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) met with several directors and the commissioner of the KBO League, Koo Youn Heo, in Seoul, South Korea, with whom they addressed different topics, among which the possibility of the teams of both countries facing each other in two exhibition games stood out.

The delegation of LMB directors was made up of Horacio de la Vega Flores, Executive President of the circuit; Bernardo Pasquel, president of El Águila de Veracruz; Gonzalo Medina, president of the Olmecs of Tabasco; and Guillermo González Elizondo, president of the Sultans of Monterrey.

“The project of a collaboration agreement for sports, dissemination and business issues was addressed. In the same way, plans were projected for joint activities between clubs from both leagues, as well as preparation games for the National Teams of the two countries” , was detailed in a statement released by the LMB.

What is the KBO?

The KBO is the Korean Baseball Organization, a league that is made up of ten clubs (LG Twins, KT Wiz, NC Dinos, Doosan Bears, Lotte Giants, Samsung Lions, Kiwoom Heroes, SSG Landers, KIA Tigers and Hanwha Eagles) and which plays a total of 720 games per season (144 matches per club).

Karim García, Jorge Cantú and Roberto Ramos are the most notable Mexican players who have played in the South Korean baseball league.
