The Mexican peso advances slightly this Sunday in its negotiations abroad, awaiting the results of the country’s presidential election, to which Morena’s candidate, Claudia Sheinbaum, arrived as a large favorite.
The national currency that operates 24 hours a day in international markets, gained 0.23 percent compared to the Reuters reference price on Friday, at 16.9537 units per dollar.
“The market is waiting for any information, at this moment it seems that the preference of the surveys, which put Sheinbaum with the majority of preferences, is already being discounted a little,” said Humberto Calzada, chief economist of the firm. Rankia Latin America.
Millions of Mexicans went to the polls on June 2 in elections in which more than 20,000 public positions were contested, including senators, deputies, capital mayor and nine governors.
