Guadalajara, Jalisco, June 25, 2024.- The State Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Cecufid) is proud to report that Michoacán surpassed 24 gold metals and set a new record, so far, in the Conade 2024 Nationals, thank you to the outstanding taekwondo artists Jareni Nava Córdova and Ana Sofía Montañez Muñoz, who awarded her the 25th and 26th gold medals on the tatami of Guadalajara, Jalisco.

At the beginning of activities in the combat modality of the youth category of taekwondo, the Purépecha team won four medals; two golds, one silver and one bronze, among them, the historic ones for our entity, with which the 24 registered in the 2022 edition were exceeded.

On her way to first place, Jareni Nava in -68 kilograms, left the representatives of Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Coahuila and the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) on the way to the final round.

«I am very happy that my medal is the historic one, I am sure that there will be more athletes who will break this record; “It was one of the strongest competitions I have ever faced,” said Jareni Nava from Morelia.

Subsequently, Ana Sofía Montañez increased the record with her first place in the Under 20 category, when facing exponents from Puebla, Tabasco, Nuevo León and Chihuahua; while Jairo Barriga won the silver at -59 kilograms; The bronze was won by Jesús Guerrero, in -45 kilograms.

Michoacán has so far achieved 92 medals, of which 26 are gold, 25 silver and 41 bronze. Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Purépecha legion will continue with the taekwondo competitions and karate will begin in Guadalajara, Jalisco; in Campeche, the youth teams in the badminton discipline will enter into action.
