Mid-Season Update: Puribec Senior Baseball League in Full Swing

The Puribec Senior Baseball League will reach the mid-season mark this weekend with seven games on the calendar.

The Shaker (6-3) will play three times, at home Friday evening with the visit of CIEL-FM from Rivière-du-Loup (5-4), as well as twice on the road, Saturday evening at Témiscouata (4 -4) and Monday evening, June 24, in Saint-Pascal against Kamouraska (7-0).

Manager Jean-Philippe Marcoux-Tortillet will use left-hander Émile Maisonneuve (0-2) on Friday evening. Mathieu Gobeil (1-0) and Benjamin Roy (2-0) will be the starters, Saturday and Monday.

With its record of 6-3, the Shaker remains in 2nd place in the ranking behind Industries Desjardins who are having a great start to the season.

Tribute for Arianne

On his Facebook page, the Shaker announces that Friday’s game will be dedicated to Arianne Dubé, spouse of Nicholas Lepage, who died in an accident.

“This Friday will be a special day for our organization. Indeed, this will be the tribute part to Arianne Dubé, spouse of our player Nicholas Lepage. Arianne unfortunately died in a tragic automobile accident on November 16.

The large Rimouski Shaker family invites you to come to the match in large numbers, to pay tribute to a golden person who was loved by all.

Arianne’s family will be present for the occasion.

A final goodbye for our #1 fan, our friend who will always be there in our hearts,” the team wrote.

Other matches

Elsewhere on Friday evening, Edmundston will be the visitor to Trois-Pistoles (7:30 p.m.). Saturday, Matane will make the long journey of 325 km to face the McCain Cataractes of Grand Falls in a doubleheader which will begin at 3:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Frontière FM will play in Rivière-du-Loup at around 2 p.m.
