Minnesota Timberwolves Make Moves Ahead of Draft, Shedding Salary to Save on Luxury Tax

Minnesota Timberwolves continue to move ahead of the Draft. Those from Minneapolis, who moved yesterday to choose Rob Dillingham at number eight, send Wendell Moore Jr and the number 37 pick to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for number 53 from those of Michigan. The movement seeks to part with Moore’s salary to save on the luxury tax.

The departure of Moore, whose salary for next year was around $2.5 million, could save close to $4 million in luxury tax. Especially if they end up signing that 53rd pick for the minimum contract rookie.

This, in turn, indicates that those from Minnesota do not have any favorite option for the second day of the Draft that will be held tonight. Beyond Dillingham, the Wolves chose forward Terrence Shannon Jr. with the number 27.
