Former Lautern star and TV expert Mario Basler (55) also does not seem convinced that Anfang is the right man for FCK. In an interview with “Sport1” he said: “Markus Anfang will have a hard time in Kaiserslautern. If the first games do not go well, then Thomas Hengen will face a lot of opposition. I would have tried something completely new and brought in a youth coach.”
At the beginning, the football that Basler also preferred was all about attacking! In a street survey conducted by the “SWR”, some fans were satisfied (“he could be a good fit for FCK”), others were critical (“they must have been smoking something up there”). And Basler adds: “If you look at last season at Dynamo Dresden, then I have to say that things didn’t work out at the beginning. In the winter break, they were second in the table, ten points ahead of third place, and in the end they messed up the season.”

But Basler, who joined Eintracht Trier at the beginning of 2009, is still hopeful, saying: “I really wanted him in Trier back then, but unfortunately he was a bit too small and lacked speed. But he was a great footballer. If he shows that as a coach at FCK, he deserves a chance.”
However, the critics could be proven wrong when training starts on June 22nd.
