The American was down 5-2 in the second set, but took advantage of a very nervous game from Paul to close out the victory to get back on track and extend the match until the tie break, where a chain of errors buried his chances.

Paul can add the third title of his career this Sunday, after Stockholm 2021 and Dallas 2024, both on hard courts. On grass he lost his only final, in Eastbourne 2023 against the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo.
