Navigating Change and Challenges: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at AL Badminton Saint-Brieuc’s Sporting Decision and Plans for the Future

On a sporting level, you took a radical decision, can you detail it?

“The objective of accessing the N2 has not been achieved. Which pushed the N3 players to leave for a club that plays in a higher division. Martin Bellot starts in N2 at Saint-Jacques and Lily Gautier in N1 at Flume Ille (Saint-Grégoire, 35). Marco Marie is also leaving, as is Maëlys Lemarchand. Only Matthieu Trividic remains. We took the option to withdraw from N3, the club being too weakened, and to return to R2 with young players who have the potential to progress. It’s not a failure, just an awareness to bounce back better. We are giving ourselves three years to return to this level of the N3 where we remained for 20 years, without going up or down. »

You also mention a room problem…

“Exactly, I have been alerting the municipality to this crucial point for a long time. I had proposed a room dedicated to racket sports. And now we have been removed from the 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. slot on Wednesdays at La Vallée, planned for R2. We only have Thursday left for this elite group, it’s not enough. We need to sit around a table to find a solution. »

How are the workforce doing?

“We have 225 licensees, compared to 202 last year. This assessment is to the credit of our employee, Pierre Guinnebault. He did quality work which attracted young people. It was felt this season with the youngest mixed team, which was crowned vice-champion of Brittany. »
