NBA Draft Speculation: French Prospect Alexandre Sarr Likely Heading to Washington Wizards at Number 2

The NBA Draft is only five days away and we are starting to see more clearly how it could take place on June 26. While there is still uncertainty around the top pick, French prospect Alexandre Sarr appears to be headed to the Washington Wizards at number 2.

Long considered one of the big favorites to be pick number 1 in the 2024 NBA Draft, Alexandre Sarr is visibly moving away from Atlanta. We remind you that the French prospect has not done the slightest workout with the Hawks, and the latter seem to be hesitating between Frenchie Zaccharie Risacher and UConn pivot Donovan Clingan.

In any case, this is what the Draft expert fromESPN Jonathan Givony, who added that “Sarr to the Wizards at number 2 is almost a lock” (in other words, a certainty).

Givony is not the only one to put forward this scenario. Jake Fischer from Yahoo Sports also indicates that the Wizards are ready to set their sights on Sarr, whom they have closely observed throughout the year in Australia.

If this is confirmed next Thursday, Alexandre Sarr will join Frenchman Bilal Coulibaly in Washington DC to form a very friendly Franco-French duo. Sarr would also arrive in a team in full reconstruction and where it is not far from being deserted in the racket (even more so after the departure of Daniel Gafford last February). Enough to perhaps obtain more responsibilities than in Atlanta, a team with more talent and more expectations.

A lot of things can obviously still change between now and next Thursday, with Atlanta possibly deciding to trade its first choice. But at the time of these lines, Alexandre Sarr seems destined to return to the capital.
