NBA Offseason Trade: Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder Swap Josh Giddey and Alex Caruso

A few days after the triumph of Boston Celtics who raised the eighteenth NBA title in their history to the sky of the TD Garden, the first offseason transfer movement has already been made. In fact, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski Of ESPNi Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder they just reached an agreement on one trade which he sees as protagonists Josh Giddey e Alex Caruso.

Last season, the latter totaled 71 games for the Chicago Bulls, posting averages of 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals. However, the Bulls decided to send him to Oklahoma State ahead of his final year of his contract. The twice All-Defensive Team (2022-2023 and 2023-2024) will in fact earn 9.8 million dollars next season and if he does not sign a contract extension with his current team – from July 2025 he will be eligible to sign a four-year contract worth around 80 million dollars – he will become unrestricted free agent.

Instead, it takes the opposite route Josh Giddey, who in the 210 regular season games played with the Thunder shirt never started from the bench and last season averaged 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in just over 25 minutes of play. Definitely the worst season of his young NBA career in every statistical item mentioned. The Oklahoma City Thunder, after the first place achieved in the West in the last regular season, therefore add an excellent defender like Alex Caruso to an already very strong roster to try to get as far as possible in the postseason.
