Netherlands and France Lead Subgroup D in European Championship as Poland is Eliminated

In subgroup D, after two games, the Netherlands and France have four points each, Austria has three points, and Poland has no points and can no longer enter the knockout tournament.

Kylian Mbappe could not help the French national team due to a broken nose. “Les Bleus” have remained winless in the last seven matches in which Mbappe has not been in France’s starting line-up.

In the second ten minutes of the game, both national teams had a chance to score a goal. First, Adrien Rabiot wasted an excellent moment, who, instead of taking a shot himself, gave an unnecessary pass to Antoine Griezmann, and a little later Cody Gakpo’s shot was saved by Mike Mainan.

Midway through the second half, Xavier Simmons put the ball in the net, but the score remained the same as a back was found. Before that, the Dutch withstood several dangerous attacks by the French national team.

On Friday, Austria beat Poland 3:1 (1:1) in subgroup D.

24 national teams, divided into six subgroups, participate in the final tournament of the European Championship. The winners of the first two places in each subgroup and the four best teams from the third-placed national teams will enter the elimination tournament.

The 2024 European Championship will be held in ten German cities from June 14 to July 14. The new European champion will be determined at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
